Challenges of Afghan Refugees in the Region

Spring 2010 - 6 min read

Afghanistan, despite its rich cultural and historical background, has faced prolonged war and persistent political and social instability during recent decades.

These conditions produced broad economic, social, and cultural challenges, including mass migration, declining public welfare, and weakened governmental institutions.

Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this study examines key barriers to development such as lack of sustainable stability, unemployment, poverty, administrative weakness, and reduced job opportunities.

The findings show that although some periods reflected signs of improvement and partial return of migrants, structural problems and weak management continued to obstruct sustainable development.

Limited access to social services and basic facilities has also negatively affected quality of life for the population.

The article concludes that meaningful stability and progress require structural reforms, economic improvement, and creation of sustainable employment opportunities.
